Willard G. Mourer, 93, of 11655 15th Ave., Batavia, died at 7:26 p.m. Oct. 14, 2011, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born March 26, 1918, near Keosauqua to Oscar and Carrie Gonder Mourer. He married Louise Wilson June 15, 1947, in Libertyville. She preceded him in death Jan.5, 1993.

A resident of the Batavia area most of his life, having spent his childhood years around Richland and Rubio, he had served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as an airplane mechanic in the Pacific Theater. Willard farmed raising mink and in later years deer and elk. He was a trophy winner mink rancher as well as enjoying many hunting trips, especially to Alaska.
He attended Peoples Church in Batavia.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (Allan) Kivi of Toronto, Canada; a grandson, Aaron Kivi of Toronto, Canada; two sisters, Thelma Ames of Sun City, Calif., Wanda Brewington of Batavia; and a brother, Boyd Mourer of Agency.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Donna Mourer, Alice Kuhns, Mirthel Mourer and Jeanette Courtney.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Monday with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to the Special Youth Challenge Ministries of Iowa or Hospice, 927 Pennsylvania Ave.
