Notes for James Randolph (Randall) (Spouse 1)
It is believed that many of the Barnetts in the Gowansville area were descended from one Randall (or Randel or Randle) Barnett. It is believed that he came to Greenville County in the early 1820’s.2

According to the records in the Greenville County, SC Courthouse Randall died without a will. According to the petition filed by his son James Barnett on March 28, 1861 there were 13 children. Randall owned a track of land on the Middle Tyger River in the area of Glassy Mountain Baptist Church. He was probably a charter member of the Glassy Mountain Baptist Church as it was organized in 1835.4

In May of 2017, I discovered on the LDS Ancestry web site that JOSEPH BARNETT and LUCY WADE had a son JOHN BARNETT who married NANCY BARNETT. JOHN nad NANCY BARNETT had a son JAMES RANDOLPH BARNETT born 1783 and died 1851 and was maried to MARTHA PHOEBE BARNETT born 1790 and died 1862.
Personal Research notes for James Randolph (Randall) (Spouse 1)
My research shows that Randall’s birthdate does not fit into the dates for children of the marriage of John and Nancy which took place 29 January 1789.5 Could it be that Randall is the son of Nancy Barnett and not John Barnett. Could it be that Randall was born of Nancy out of wedlock. Then given the fact that Randall had only one arm, could it be that he was never listed with the children of John and Nancy because of the possibility that he was born out of wedlock and maybe deformed in one of his arms. James T. Barnett, who Nolen Brunson the Author of the Barnett McMakin Connection says, “Is well informed and interested in the genealogy of the Barnett family”, is inclined to agree with the above theory. If you have additional information on Randall or Randolph, please contact me.
