OBITUARY FOR JOHN EDWARD WHITAKER
Hendersonville - John Edward Whitaker,73, of 715 Stoney Mountain Road, died Thursday morning in a Hendersoville hospital after an illness of three months.

He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, a retire painter, a member of Bapfour Baptist Church and the Western North Carolina Fox Hunters Association.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Louise Corn Whitaker; a daughter, Mrs. Norma Jean Gaillard of Hendersonville, a brother, J. S. Whitaker of Mountain Home; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Barnett and Miss Ruth Whitaker of Mountain Home, and Mrs. Velda Gash of Horse Shoe.

Service will be held at 2 pm Saturday in Thos. Shepherd Memorial Chapel.

The Rev. John E. Jones will officiate. The burial will be in Shepherd Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be J.D. Taylor, R.M. and S.R. Gaillard, W.E. Martin, M.G. Holbert and J.F. Mullinax.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Friday at the funeral chapel.

OBITURAY FOR LOUISE C. WHITAKER
Louise C. “Cousty” Whitaker, 92, of Hendersonville, died Monday Septermber 27, 1999, in her home following an extended illness.

She was born in Henderson County, a daughter of the late Francis M. Corn and Joanna Justice Corn and the wife of John E. Whitaker who died in 1972. She lived in the area all her life. She was a member of Balfour United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her loving daughter, whth whom she made her home, Norma Gaillard and her husband Richard, a sister Mae Summey of Spartanburg, SC; a brother Guy Corn of Hendersonville, her special friend, Mary Owensby of Hendersonville; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will be private. Friends may call on the familyh one hour prior t the service at the mausoleum chapel, and at other times willbe at the home, 715 Stoney Mountain Road.
