OBITUARY FOR VENA NEVES
At age 94, Vena, then living at 216 Stewart Street in Greenville, died on November 18, 1983. Funeral services were held at the Wood Mortuary, conducted by Revs. Carrol Davis and Dagnall Richter. Pallbearers were Barry Barton, Lee Hayes, Michael Stockton, Donnie Stockton, Ronnie Stockton and Earl Foster. She was buried in the Mush Creek Baptist Church cemetery, beside her first husband. In addition to her three daughters mentioned above, she was survived by a brother (Pluratus Neves, of Travelers Rest), two sisters (Ruth Neves, who had married a Garvey and was living in Greenville, and Clara Neves, who had married a Lanford and was then living in Spartanburg), 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

After his retirement, Charlie lived at Route 2, Landrum, in the Gowansville community. He and Vena moved from the house above (north of) Gowansville Church to another house below (south) of Gowansville. It is believed that the specific place of residence is no longer standing, but it was approximately where the house bearing the present address of 5351 N. Highway 14 presently stands.

OBITURARY FOR CHARLIE S. WEST
After a serious illness of two months, Charlie died, at age 85, at home, on November 14, 1961. Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Hollis Lovelace, Broadus Belue, E. B. Crain and W. L. Freeman, at Gowansville. Pallbearers were Bill Walker, Carl Walker, Charlie West, Jack Lee West, Joe West and Jerry Few. He was buried in the church cemetery. He was survived by his wife (Vena), four daughters (Bertha West Barnett, of Cross Hill; Lillian West Few, of Greer; Nelle West Dillard, of Landrum; and Myrtle West Walker, of Hendersonville), two sons (Thomas D., of Landrum, and R. Spurgeon, also of Landrum), and the three step-daughters mentioned above.2
