OBITUARY FOR EMILY BERTHA LYNCH
Bertha L. Barnett(e) died at age 97 on November 5, 1985, while a patient at Camp Haven Nursing Home. The funeral was held at Petty’s (Rev. Billy Walker) and she was buried in the Fairview (Landrum) cemetery. Survivors included a son (Willie Barnette, of Horse Shoe, N. C.), four step-sons (Wade, Ralph, Clyde and Archie Cathey), and three step-daughters (Jessie C. Perry, Carolyn C. Walters and Mary C. Hills). Her death notice was in the November 6, 1985 issue of The Greenville News.

OBITUARY FOR URRAH CARL BARNETT(E)
Carl was a member of First Baptist in Landrum, and, until his retirement, operated Barnette Shoe Repair in Landrum. Jennie Rhinehart also reports that he owned an apple orchard north of Gowansville. After a 10-day illness, he died at his home, age 77, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 1956. His funeral was held at the Church, Rev. C. W. Farrar officiating. Burial was in Fairview (Landrum) cemetery. Pallbearers were Buford Barnette, Paul Brown, Ralph Lee Henson, Spurgeon West, Edward Dillard and Elford Barnette. Survivors included his wife Bertha Lynch Barnette, three sons (Willie Barnette, of Hendersonville; Lonnie Booth Barnett, of Inman, Route 3; and James Barnette, of Greenville), three sisters (Susan B. Barnett [Mrs. C. S.] West; Hattie Barnett [Mrs. James N.] Brown; and Mattie Barnett [Mrs. David J.] Henson; of Route 1, Landrum); one brother (Walter Barnett); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Petty had the arrangements, and Carl’s death notice was in the May 17, 1956 issue of The Greenville News.
